Enabling SSL for your email in Thunderbird mail client
How do I enable SSL in Thunderbird ?
Step 1
Open Mozilla Thunderbird on your computer.
Step 2
Right click the mailbox you want enable SSL on and select Settings.

Step 3
The Account Settings window will now appear, select Server Settings from under your mailbox.

Step 4
In Server Settings, change the following settings:
- Server Name: mail.livemail.co.uk
 - Port: Set the number to 993.
 - Connection security: Set the dropdown box to SSL/TLS.
 
If you are using POP instead of IMAP set the Port number to 995.
                              
Step 5
Now select Outgoing Server (SMTP) from the menu on the left.

Step 6
If you have a Standard mailbox you will need to use the SMTP settings supplied by your internet provider.
                              Select the SMTP server you want to enable SSL on and click Edit.

Step 7
In the SMTP Server window, change the following settings:
- Server Name: smtp.livemail.co.uk
 - Port: 465
 - Connection Security: SSL/TLS
 

Once done, click OK. Your mailbox is now set up using SSL in Thunderbird.
